The Album

Origin of Symmetry was the second album release for the British rock band Muse. Its original release was in the UK Summer of 2001 (July 17th) but the album was not released in America until September 2005. The release of the album was so delayed due to a fall out between Muse and their record company when they were requested to edit songs to remove the falsetto tones from the album. Unwilling to change their vision and destroy their musical integrity Muse left the label.

Origin of Symmetry is seen as Muse's experimental album, after already releasing the hit 'Showbiz' the band decided to take a different spin on their musical talents and let their imaginations run wild with a large variety of musical instruments rather than the basic 'rock set'. The result was a diverse range of songs which could appeal to a wide variety of fans.

All tracks on the album were written by Matthew Bellamy except for track 10 which is a cover of Nina Simone's 'Feeling Good'.
