Movie: An Untimely End
Though Kiriyama is not the nicest person in the world it is a sad time when any favourite character falls. He is however one of the very last people to die within the game which shows he did infact 'play' well in comparison to the rest.
With only 7 players left in the game Kiriyama approaches the abandoned building in which Shinji, Iijima and Yutaka are planning their attack upon the school where Kitano is situated. Believing the approaching body to be Nanahara, Yutaka runs into the open and is subsequently shot down. Shinji attempts to exchange fire with Kiriyama but decides to retreat. While doing so Kiriyama manages to shoot down Iijima. Enraged Shinji runs into the open and while being riddled with bullets triggers the explosives on the back of a truck.

After the explosion, Kiriyama is left half blind and stumbling. Kawada awaits nearby, aptly protecting Nanahara and Nakagawa who had instructed they come here to meet up with Shinji and his gang. Kawada cocks his gun alerting Kiriyama to his presence and they exchange fire until Kawada aims a lucky shot and our beloved Kazuo is brought down by a bullet shot to his necklace resulting in it exploding.

Even though he died the circumstances of the fight do show the strength and prowess of Kazuo. In order to be taken down he is first blinded through Shinji's sacrifice which leads to an obvious disadvantage, unable to see Kawada's exact position means Kiriyamas attacks are more wild and unpredictable, relying on the chance some bullets hit Kawada causing his death instantly. In a 'fair' fight it is doubtful that Kiriyama would have been brought down and the outcome of the game would have been very different.
You may have been a murderous psychopath Kazuo, but we will all miss you!
