About the Site

Mute Massacre is dedicated to the 'villain' Kazuo Kiriyama in the movie and book Battle Royale. To find out more about this fascinating character check out the shrine portion of the site. This site was opened on the 17th of April 2005 and is hosted on one of my domains, Truedestinies.com.

But What is a Fanlisting?

According to TFL a fanlisting is "a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject."

Why 'Mute Massacre'?

I will admit when I first created this fanlisting I had only seen the movie and not read the Battle Royale book (its hard to get your hands on where I live) and so the title at the time was mainly based on the movie and what I had read about the book. Any fan knows Kiriyama is silent through the entire film and it is often rumoured that he is a mute. Since he massacred the other contestants ruthlessly it seemed only fair to name the FL 'Mute Massacre'.

After reading the novel I was very tempted to change the name of the site since Kazuo does infact speak in the book, I even redid everything with the new name. However after considering the situation better the current name did infact suit Kiriyama in the novel as well because even though he speaks it is very seldom and mainly in flashbacks. His voice is intimidating and his statements chilling. It's brilliant. But at the same time he still remains quiet while killing his classmates (actually he never talks after the first few instances where he is confronting Numai or in flashbacks). It's not like he starts laughing maniacally and running around brandishing his gun like an idiot. Therefore it can still be considered as a 'Mute Massacre'.
